Joost Jansen made animated sequences for the documentary series “children of the collaboration”.
They are estimated to be with 300 000, the children of Belgians who were suspected or accused of collaborating with Nazi Germany during the Second World War. Canvas gives a number of them extensive coverage in the Children of the Collaboration series.
With their minimal aesthetics and consistent approach, the animations give the series a strong visual identity and make the narration more layered. throughout the different episodes the animated sequences make sharp, symbolic and metaphoric summaries of what the different characters have told.
